Craps is just one of those games where you picture yourself standing shoulder to shoulder with a table full of screaming players as someone throws those bright red dice tumbling down the green felt for another frontline winner 7.
But in reality, online craps has been growing in popularity, and now with the advent of live dealer craps and mechanical throwing arms that use actual dice, playing craps online has never been closer to the real thing.

Where Can I Play Craps Online?
|State||Online Craps||Market Launch|
|New Jersey||Nov. 2013|
|West Virginia||July 2020|
Legal online casinos in the US are just over a decade old, but they continue to pick up steam. While more than 30 states have legalized online sports betting, only seven have legalized online casinos.
Of those states that have legalized online casino games, Rhode Island will not be up and running until 2024. Delawares’ three online licensees are all operated through the Delaware Lottery’s partnership with 888 Gaming and doesn’t offer Craps.
But beginning in late 2023, Delaware’s online casinos will run on Rush Street Interactive software. Rush Street does offer RNG craps and does partner with Evolution Gaming to provide live dealer games in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, so perhaps we might not only see online craps come to the First State but even a live dealer version as well.
Can I Play Online Craps if I’m Not in a Regulated State?
If you’re looking to play craps online for free because you don’t live in a State with real money craps, you have a few options.
Many prominent legal online casino operators will allow you to play their casino games in demo mode to build out their player lists and let you learn the game.
There are also social casinos where you play for free but still have a chance at winning prizes or sweepstakes casinos where you buy coins and then are awarded as prizes sweepstakes coins which you can bet or redeem for cash. While blackjack and Roulette can easily be found, craps games are notably absent.
There are many other casino apps where you can play for fun for free, though. However, these sites are of varying quality and design.
Is Online Craps Legal?
If you want to play craps games online, it’s completely legal. If you play craps in a state where online casinos aren’t yet legal, you can just play craps online for free with any of the gambling sites we just discussed.
If you want to play for real money, we urge caution in dealing with any unlicensed and unvetted offshore operators. We can’t answer the thorny legal question of whether gambling with these sites is legal in your state.
But we know that those offshore craps games have not been tested and licensed by strict state gaming agencies here in the US, nor have they inspected their books for any issues or irregularities that might cause your deposit money to disappear.
It’s best to wait until your state approves online casinos or take a trip to one that has. You don’t have to be a resident, just within the state’s borders.
If you’re fortunate enough to live in a state where online casino table games are legal, you need only look over our best-of list below to find the best online craps sites for your specific needs and requirements. Sign up, collect your welcome bonus, and roll them bones.

Online Craps Terminology
This is usually either a match on your initial deposit or a refund on your losses for the first 24 hours or sometimes seven days.
Notably, Craps Games are sometimes excluded from welcome bonuses altogether, and if you choose to play craps at others, the play-through required can be very high compared to other online casino games.
The number of times you must wager your entire deposit before your bonus is available for withdrawal. For instance, at BetMGM, you must bet 75x your deposit on craps games before your bonus can be withdrawn.
At FanDuel Casino, you only need to play craps online 1x your initial deposit. The play-through for welcome bonuses may differ from that for a deposit bonus.
This refers to the bet placed immediately before the come-out roll or the beginning of a shooter’s roll. It’s a contract bet, meaning you can add to it, but you can’t take it down after the come-out roll.
On the first roll, seven or eleven, you win, two, three, or twelve loses, and anything else becomes your point. Once you have a point, you’ll need to roll it again to win before a seven, in which case you lose.
Random Number Generator
Online craps games are generally based on the decisions of a random number generator (RNG). This computer code stands for actual dice in online craps games.
If you aren’t playing on a live dealer crap game with actual dice, then you are playing a game using an RNG.
Craps bets that are generally one-roll bets or side bets. In theory, most land-based casinos will allow you to bet on any two-roll combination of the dice using hop bets.
This would be a bit confusing when playing craps online, so prop bets usually refer to those bets in the middle of the table, like world bets, any seven, or any craps. While hard ways are not one-roll bets, they are side bets generally lumped in with proposition bets.
Come Out Roll
The beginning of a new roll, which starts after a seven out. We are looking for the point to be established on the come-out roll.
House edge is the casino’s advantage on the game as a whole or, in the case of dice, any of its many different bets. Depending on what you bet, the house edge can vary wildly.
The house edge on any seven bets is 16.67%, while the house edge on a pass line bet backed up with ten times odds has the lowest house edge of any casino game at less than 0.2 %
An additional wager after a point has been established. It’s placed behind the place bet. If you make the point, you’ll be paid true odds, which means you will be paid what the actual odds are, with no house advantage.
This is the only bet in a casino where the house has no advantage over you. It pays 2/1 on the four and ten, 3/2 on the five and nine, and 6/5 on the six and eight.
How Does Online Craps Work?
Whether you are looking to play a free craps game or wager $1,000s on a real money game, all the craps games at places like FanDuel or Bally’s play the same way.
You set up an account, decide if you need to learn more in demo mode, are ready to start playing for ten cents a roll, or are prepared for a $100 minimum game. Then, pick the best casino for your needs and bankroll. Below is a list of the best online craps sites for your specific requirements.
Best Online Craps Casinos For Real Money
Choosing an online casino is an important decision in order to have the best craps gaming experience possible. These are our top choices for online casinos that offer craps.
Best Online Craps Game For Beginners
Bally’s Online Casino Craps game is perfect for just about everyone. But it didn’t quite make our best overall Craps Game spot because they only offer one type of craps table. While they have one of the best no-deposit bonuses, their initial welcome bonus offer is only tailored towards beginners.
They have a $50 registration bonus just for signing up; since they have such low minimums, a beginner could spend a lot of time learning on a real money game before putting up an initial deposit.
The initial deposit bonus is just a $100 rebate on your loss in the first seven days. Again, this is a lot of bets at the table minimum if you’re learning, but it only goes so far when you want to bet like you would in a land-based casino.
The low minimums aren’t why it got the best craps game for beginners spot, though. Bally’s partnered with Roxor Games, previously Gamesys, to offer a great game with the lowest house edge currently available in online craps. This game returns 99.73% if wagered correctly.
You won’t find an online craps table with better odds. They will allow you to take 5x odds. Pair that with minimums of only 10 cents, along with that $50 just for signing up, and you can see why Ballys is the choice for beginning craps players to learn the basic rules and play around with additional bets, like hard ways and yo’s for just a dime.

Online Casino With Best Craps Games Selection
BetMGM Online Casino is a behemoth. They offer internet casinos in West Virginia, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. They offer over 1000 slot titles and over 60 popular casino games you can play on your desktop or mobile device.
They’ve partnered with Evoultion Gaming and Ezugi for live dealer games, though only Evoulution currently has a craps game available.
BetMgm offers up to a $ 1,000 match on your first deposit and a $25 bonus just for signing up. While they don’t totally exclude craps play from their bonus offer as Caesar’s does, you will generally find that you need to play any bonus about 75x through before withdrawal, which is very harsh.
That being said, they have a best-in-class mobile app, generally sound RNG craps offering with an above-average return to player of 99.17%, and a fun and exciting live dealer craps table that gives you some of the thrills of the actual game.

Best Online Craps Games For Bonuses
FanDuel has been in the fantasy sports business since 2009. They currently offer the FanDuel Online Casino sites in New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Michigan.
They are of the top online craps sites due to their “you win it, you keep it promise,” which essentially says if you get a bonus, you play it once through, and if you win, you keep it. You won’t have to bet the same bonus 75x before you can withdraw it.
Their deposit bonus is 100% of anything you lose in the first 24 hours is rebated back, and then you only need to bet this once to keep it.
On top of the high loss rebate and the dead simple play-through requirements, FanDuel is known for keeping their craps player happy with other ongoing bonuses and promos, like their 50 free spins no deposit bonuses, or their $100 refer a friend promo.
You will find both Evolution’s first-person craps games and their live dealer game on offer. The first-person game is played with an RNG determining the rolls, while the live dealer version uses a mechanical throwing arm.
The rules are the same on both, with an RTP of 99.17%, and you are allowed to take one-time odds on pass-line bets and the come-out roll. The minimum is only 50 cents on the first-person version and just $1 on the live dealer game. Both are beautiful, well-thought-out versions, but it’s hard to beat the thrill of the live dealer craps games.
If free craps games are what you are looking for, you can play the demo mode on FanDue or the Evolution online craps sites.

Best Overall Casino Craps Games
Golden Nugget was a pretty easy choice for the best online craps site due to offering a game with 5x odds and a 99.73% RTP, paired with a good game selection and a great bonus program. Golden Nugget does offer DraftKings branded games in their online casino.
You can find them in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. They are licensed and regulated and one of the most trusted online casinos in the country due to their years of involvement with fantasy sports apps.
They have the Evolution First Person Craps Game that we discussed earlier.,though it is branded Draftkings First Person Craps here, it only allows 1x odds. They have the Andrew Dice Clay game, which is, for some reason, a top-rated dice game, and then the Draftkings Casino crap game.
The Andrew Dice Clay and Draftkings versions have the 5x odds, the 99.73% RTP, and the All/Tall/Small side bet. But the ADC version has a foul or fouler language setting that allows ADC to hurl insults and call the craps game for you.
If your looking to play craps for free, all of their games can be played in demo mode. They load quickly and have entertaining graphics, which, in the case of the Andrew Dice Clay games, is the dice table in the trunk of the Dice Man’s Caddy.
They have a 200 spins no-deposit bonus as well as up to $1000 match on initial deposits. The best choice here may be the $100 match play since higher matches trigger more play-through requirements. They also have a generous $100 refer-a-friend bonus.

What’s the History of Craps?
Games played with dice date back many thousands of years. The modern dice game is usually traced back to a young teenager in New Orleans. Bernard De Marigny was a very rich son of some of the French landowners who founded New Orleans. He picked up a penchant for an English dice game called Hazard while in school in London.
Upon returning home around 1805, he made considerable changes to the game and introduced it to his friends but probably more importantly to his workers and enslaved people. The working class of New Orleans quickly picked up the game and then spread it up the Mississippi River.
While the game remained popular over the years, it saw its resurgence in the 1940s as millions went off to war. The long boredom of transoceanic journeys was often broken by sailors and marines playing craps games. When this generation returned home, their love of the game would fuel a four-decade-long boom.
Online Craps Betting Options
This is the main bet on the dice game. You will need either a pass or don’t pass bet when it is your turn to shoot. All other times, it is optional. On the Pass bet during the come-out roll, before a point is established, you win if seven or eleven rolls and lose if two, three, or twelve rolls.
Any other number becomes the point, which must roll again before seven rolls. The don’t pass is the opposite. On the come-out roll, you lose on seven or eleven and win on a two, three, or twelve. Once the point is established, you win if seven rolls before that point is rolled again.
Once a point is established, you have the option to take odds on your pass-line bet. This is the only bet in the whole casino that doesn’t have a built-in house edge. You may be able to bet anywhere from 1 to 5 times your original wager. This bet pays differently depending on the point: 2x on the four and ten, 1.5 times on the five and 9, and 6:5 on the six and eight.
Conversely, if you bet the don’t pass, you can lay odds. The difference is that because the odds are now in your favor, you lay the opposite of what the pass side pays. So for every $2 you lay against the four and ten, you only win $1. For every $3 you lay against the four and ten, you only win $2. And if you choose to lay against the six and eight, you win $5 for every $6 you wager.
Think of the come and don’t come bet as the same as the Pass/Don’t pass, but you can bet at any time after an established point. On the come side, seven or eleven wins, any craps numbers lose, and any other number is where the come bet moves to. It must roll again to win before seven.
The don’t come is the same as the don’t pass. Seven or eleven loses, any craps win, and all other numbers your bet is placed behind. You need a seven before that number rolls again. You can take odds or lay odds on these numbers like the pass/don’t pass bet.
Place bets allow you to pick what numbers you wish to bet, while with the come and pass line, you take whatever number is rolled. Place bets on the six and eight pay 7:6. A key takeaway is to keep the six and eight bets in units of $6.
The house rounds down, although, in online games, they often round down to the nearest 25 cents. Still, staying in proper units keeps the house from unnecessarily increasing the advantage. The 5 and 9 pay 7:5. For every $5 you bet, you get $7, and the four and ten pay 9:5, so every $5 you bet gets you $9.
These are the bets in the middle of the table. Other than the hard ways, they are only one-roll bets, meaning you either win or lose. Craps means any two, three, or twelve. So, if you see any craps, it means you are betting the next roll will be one of those three numbers, and it pays 7:1. The E bet is for eleven or yo and pays 15 to 1, while the C is again for craps.
So a C&E is betting that the next roll will be two, three, eleven, or twelve, with half your bet on the craps side and half on the yo side. So a $2 C&E and the yo hits pays $15 for the $1 on the yo side, minus $1 on the craps side, so $14.
Hardways are sort of longer-lasting prop bets. Here, you can bet on rolling pairs of the four, six, eight, or ten before the seven comes. The odd thing is that you lose not only on seven but also if you roll the desired number in any way other than as a pair. For instance, you lose if you bet $5 on the hard four, but the dice rolls a three and a 1. The Hard Six and Eight pay 9 to 1, while the Hard Four and Ten pay 7 to 1.
The field bet gets a lot of grief from craps purists, and that’s probably because in a highly complex game, a lot of newbies like to stick their hands in front of the rolling dice to make this “sucker bet.” This bet is as simple as it can be: roll any number listed in the field and get paid even money. And while it’s intended to look like many numbers are covered by the field bet, it only has 16 of the 36 possible ways for the dice to land. But if it’s a two or twelve, you can get back 2:1; in some cases, the house will pay the twelve at 3:1.
Compared to a pass line at full odds with a house edge of less than 0.2%, the regular pay table of 2:1 on the two and twelve does seem a bit suckerish at 5.5%. But online craps has brought back the field bet in several critical ways. First and foremost, no drunks sticking their hands in front of your hot roll to make some last-minute field bet when you’re online, but also, many online casinos pay the two at 2 to 1 and twelve at three to 1, which drops the house edge to a quite reasonable 2.8%.
Big 6 and 8
The Big 6 and 8 are leftovers from a bygone era. They pay even money while placing either number pays 6 to 5. There is no mathematical reason to bet them when placing them pays more.
What Online Craps Bets Pays the Most?
The All-Tall-Small Side Bet
You can find the All/Tall/Small bet on the Andrew Dice Clay or Draftkings Craps games. It’s also very popular in land-based casino dice games.
On the small side, the shooter needs to roll all of the numbers 2 through 6 to win $34 for every dollar bet. The tall is the same thing; only you must roll the 8 through 12 numbers.
Should you complete both the Small and Tall sides, you win $175 for each $1 you bet. House advantage is a smidge under 8% on all these bets.
The12 is called the high side, and the two is called the low side. If you bet either the two or twelve separately, it’s a one-roll bet, and it pays you 30 to 1. Bet them as a pair; they pay the same, just minus the losing bet.
For instance, a $2 High/Low pays $29 regardless of whether two or twelve rolls. You are paid for the winning bet at $30 for whichever one rolled, minus a dollar for the one that didn’t.
The eleven is called the Yo. This is to avoid it being confused with seven, which sounds similar. The Ace Deuce refers to a three. Separately, these pay 15 to 1.
Bet together, and you’re getting 15 to 1 still, but minus the losing bet. A $2 Yo/Ace Deuce pays $14 if either the eleven or three rolls.
Like the bets we just discussed, the horn bet is betting on all four numbers: two, three, eleven, and twelve. Think of it as just betting $1 on each of them.
It’s a one-roll bet, paying the same as if you bet each number separately but minus the losers. If twelve rolls, a $4 horn pays $30 for the twelve but minus $3 for the $1 each on the losing numbers, two, three, eleven. So you get $27.
There is some confusion about what this bet is called in different parts of the country, so that you may see it either way. It’s a horn bet, but now we are adding an any seven. So, a $5 whirl/world bet is the same as a $1 each on the two, three, eleven, twelve, and now the seven.
If twelve rolls, we get $30 minus the $4 on the losing bets, so $26. If seven rolls, it pays $4 minus the $4 on the other losing numbers, so it’s a push.
Best Online Craps Strategy
To keep the house edge low when you play craps for real money, your best bet is the pass line bet with the max odds that the gambling site will allow, along with one or two come bets with full odds to make it enjoyable.
Save the field bets and crazy props for when you play craps online free at one of the online craps sites set up just for learning.
Popular Online Craps Payout Options
There are many options to deposit and withdraw money at all of the casinos licensed in the States, where real money games are legal. Most of these have instant deposits, so you can start playing craps immediately.
The most popular banking methods are either Mastercard and Visa credit or debit cards or any of the wallet apps like PayPal or Skrill. Another more niche option, if you play a lot of online casinos, is apps like Play+.
You can wire in money or deposit it at the cage with one of their land-based casinos. The only deposit method they don’t take is crypto. For now, this has proved a bridge too far with cautious state regulators.
When it comes time to withdraw all that hard-earned money, there are a few things to remember. They will only allow withdrawals to the same method you used to deposit. Using PayPal is straightforward. Getting wired money back out to your bank or refunding to your Chase Sapphire is not.
Secondly, while it only makes sense that withdrawals would be slower to keep fraud to a minimum, the fastest paying online casinos can get you back your money in one day while others take five. So it’s essential to consider your options going in.
Advantages of Playing Craps Online
More than any other casino game, craps is a social game. Each player taking turns shooting the dice, rooting each other on, and betting on each other’s rolls is bound to build camaraderie.
But there are certainly times when playing craps online is also going to make sense. First, it is a great way to learn the game. Craps has a LOT of different bets, and to make it more challenging, they all pay different amounts just about.
So playing free craps online certainly can make learning the game a lot less expensive. You can try varied betting systems without risk, or you can try other craps variants. Crapless Craps is another popular casino dice game.
Even when you’re ready to bet real money on a dice game, the minimums online are much, much lower. Sometimes, it’s as low as a dime. You’d be hard-pressed to find a dice game in Atlantic City on a busy weekend for less than $25.
So online dice games make sense when you want to take full odds on your pass bet but want to avoid betting $275 every come out.
Also, you can try to develop your winning strategy or experiment with old classics like the Iron Cross, Dark Side ATM, or the ever-popular, suicidal Field Martingale.
Online Craps Conclusion
Online craps has taken a two-hundred-year-old American game and made it new again. You can play from your mobile devices while you’re stuck in traffic or riding the subway.
If you are in one of the seven states where online casino games are legal, you can even play online craps for real money. But no matter where you are, you can now find a great craps game in the palm of your hand.
Online Craps FAQs

While we can’t answer for those shady offshore sites, all the casinos licensed in legal states here in the US will have had every line of their code checked and rechecked and every game’s odds verified in a state gaming control computer lab.
As for live dealer games, those dice are inspected, as well as the table, the throwing arm, and all the software that handles payouts.
Many online craps sites allow you to play craps games for free. Our top choice for free craps is Golden Nugget Online Casino.

Hopefully, Delaware and Rhode Island will be offering real money craps games soon
Both Bally’s Online Casino and Golden Nugget Casino have dice games that offer 5x odds. That reduces the house edge on a pass or come bet with full odds down to around .3%. These are some of the best odds available for real money craps.
