Poker Hall of Famers to play heads-up match

Fresh off a match with Doug Polk, Daniel Negreanu will compete in a high-stakes match against Phil Hellmuth. Two of the biggest names in poker have agreed to a heads-up duel in the coming weeks that will air on a popular poker streaming service. It should feature plenty of trash talk.

Vegas Golden Knights partner with a tout service

A move by the NHL team to link up with a firm that provides sports betting picks has raised some eyebrows in the industry. While there are definitely sharps in the world of sports betting, touts offer a flawed product. Pro sports bettors don’t sell potentially profitable picks. Others have cited responsible gambling concerns.

NJ lottery winners making use of 2020 law change

Some massive multi-state lottery jackpots were recently won in the state of New Jersey, and thanks to a recent law change the winners have been able to shield their identities from the public. New Jersey is in a minority of states with such a law, which some criticize for taking away transparency.

Authorities in Louisiana crack down on poker room

A so-called “social” poker club in Baton Rouge was shut down by local authorities. The poker room was generating revenue through various fees, rather than a traditional rake, similar to poker clubs in nearby Texas. However, in Louisiana there isn’t a legal carveout for such a business.

Book puts up odds on Wilson landing with Lions

Despite Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson reportedly indicating that he’d only be willing to be dealt to the Cowboys, Bears, Raiders, or Saints, a regulated Colorado sportsbook is apparently taking action on Wilson landing with the Detroit Lions. The odds are much shorter than they should be.

Historic heavyweight upset in UFC main event

UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis could be found as a +350 underdog in this past Saturday’s main event. He was losing the fight until landing a hard uppercut to send the huge favorite Curtis Blaydes to the canvas.

Ex-lawmaker pleads guilty in case involving gambling

Gambling problems can fall on anyone, as was the case with former Massachusetts state Rep. David Nangle. He took a plea deal this week, admitting to using some campaign money to fund his gambling habit. He will likely see time in prison, with the deal indicating it will be under three years.
